It's my opinion, for reasons too lengthy to go into here, that the curent "Palestinians" are almost entirely an artificial construct that grew out of that post 1948 period. Prior to that time, most of these folks considered themselves Jordanians if anything, of course it's somewhat difficult to define a Jordanian, they're certainly not all Hashemites. I also believe that the pressure cooker which created the "Palestinians" was deliberately fostered by the surrounding Moslem countries to keep the pressure on Israel. Palestinians are absolutely as much a victim of the Moslem nations as they are the Israelis. You might make a few inquiries into how they've dealt with the Palestinians when they got out of hand, massacre is the appropriate word. There's not a lot of information out there because they don't like to talk about it.

Can You Honestly Say That You Are No Longer Under Watchtower Mind Control?

Obviously anyone that frequents this site is still under the influence. I don't buy the actual "mind control" business but clearly people's lives are impacted.

What is WT procedure for ...
by Galimo inwhat would be the correct and approved procedure for a "prodigal" son or daughter to come back to the society?.
i have this ex-girlfriend who is also babtized and lived a very wild life outside the organization, without ever getting kicked.
she moved a lot from city to city so nobody really noticed or knew.. now she said she repents and found jehova again and is going back.. live and let live, fine with me.. lol.. i only had written correspondence in the last decades with her.. i remarked that the proper way would be for her to go to the elders and "confess" all her sins.

If some time has passed since she did anything that could be classified as a serious sin, say a year, that would indicate to the Elders that she has repented and that her conscience is working properly. They will almost certainly privately reproove her and let it go at that. Given that she's a returning prodigal they will probably be supportive. She could get some rogue Elders but in these circumstances it's unlikely, especially if she makes sure she deals with Elders that don't know her, she shouldn't go back to her old congregation if she can help it because they might have an axe to grind.

Yerusalyim I don't think the Palestinians can give up violence, it's all that holds them together, the hatred of Israel. I know quite a few Palestinians and I've lived in a couple of Middle Eastern countries and have found that the Palestinians are very very factionalized. They are also really disliked by almost everyone else in the area. The Egyptians don't like them, the Gulf States don't like them, the Kuwaitis and Saudis despise them. Oh they give money and talk a lot but that's as far as it goes. The only thing that holds it all together is the mutual animosity for Israel and the goal of driving the Iraelis into the Med.

Another reason I hate the ACLU
by freedom96 inever heard of nambla?
this is an organization that promotes man-boy love, with support groups, and magazines and books supporting the subject.. and the aclu has gone to bat for these guys.
pro bono, backing their rights to this sick group.

The ACLU celebrates and supports every one of the bill of right except the 2nd. Try to get them to back you up on that one. The ACLU is just like Amnesty International, too selective in what they support and almost always leftist.

Democrat or Republican?
by spiritwalker inwhen i left the witnesses, i decided it was time to vote.
so i registered republican and went to voting all republican and conservative.
i figured, they might not be perfect, but unlike the democrats that i have seen.

I certainly agree that there should be some standard associated with the privilege of voting. I'd go for tax payers, that's income tax. People shouldn't be able to vote themselves largesse from the public purse if they don't contribute to that purse. That's the appeal the Democrats are making to a lot of voters, soak the taxpayers, reap the benefits.

To the right wing Americans

if john kerry wins the election: will you respect him as your president?.
will you support him?

I always respect the office, it's certainly the hardest job available, and most of the time I have some respect for the man. I quite liked Kennedy and found some good things about Johnson, Nixon had some major successes in foreign policy and I liked that. I liked Ford. Carter was probably a good man, but a lousy President. I really like Ronnie. There was a lot I thought highly of about George the First but I hated that he backed off on the tax issue. I found it very difficult to find anything to like about Clinton, I found him amoral and governed mostly by ambition. I don't thing he did anything for the country. Kerry seems to me to be in the Clinton mold, ambition is his driver. I have seen scant evidence he really gives a hoot about the country. George the Second come after Ronnie for me, too many compromises and too much spending. I do think he is very focused and he does what he says he'll do. If I saw Kerry really trying to do something for the country, then the respect level would go up, but I just don't see any indicators of that happening.
